Tornado Heads
Some benefits of these wicks as compared to others out there
- They produce gorgeous trails when spun that you won’t get from cathedral heads or monkeyfists of a similar weight.
- They have good burn time, but not so long that you run out of ideas while you spin
- Their weight means your arms don’t drop dead after one burn
- The heads are ‘friendly’. They won’t ‘bite’ you during spiral wraps or other wraps.
Regular (3″)
The ‘regular’ size wicks are 3″ in length and are comparable in weight to Home of Poi’s medium Cathedral heads. These are recommended for you if you have straightforward poi chain like shown here.
If you have the twisted oval link chains similar to those sold by Home of Poi, you might find that the “regular” size is a little on the light side compared to the chains. They will still handle superbly, but some of you may find that the point of balance shifts towards the chain a little, despite the weighted ends of the heads.
A bit bigger (4″)
The 4″ heads will be perfect for you if you’re already used to slightly heavier poi and have a bit of experience with fire performance or if you feel that your existing setup is great for burn time but you want a bigger flame without having to opt for something like 90mm monkeyfists.
These heads will be perfectly balanced if you have the heavier twisted link chain and will still give you room to throw them around if you need to!
Rather big (5″)
These heads are the biggest ones I make. 5″ heads are for the experienced spinners out there or those of you with no sense of self-preservation. Just kidding about the last part. But I would not recommend heads of this size to beginner fire performers as the flames they produce will be very sizeable and the weight may be more than what you’re used to.
However, if you’re an experienced fire performer looking for heads that create amazing trails and have a great burn time, these will definitely tickle you in just the right places!
A quick note: Each set of wicks is made by me after I receive payment. That means that there will sometimes be a delay of up to 2 weeks before you’re holding these lovely objects. I generally get them out quicker than that, but just so you’re aware! PS: These are just the heads. They don’t include chains, handles, swivels, squirrels or any other furry mammal. Just poi heads.
